Our hands on activities this week: [clockwise from top-left]
The boys had a blast decorating [and re-decorating] this cake on the window with foam pieces! It was a great birthday decoration for George too!
George got a little messy [imagine that!] with

To celebrate the week before George’s birthday, Henry made a birthday cake right on the front window.
We received these foam platters from Michael’s Creatology line, that come in a brightly colored shapes one, as well as a sports edition

It was George’s Birthday over the weekend! George turned 2!
This Happy Birthday Sensory Bin, that No Twiddle Twaddle is sharing today, would have been a perfect activity during the party, and may

While fixing up George’s new big boy room, we got new carpet for the room and ended up with this large carpet tube.
This was such a treat for the boys! And I think you could go to any carpet store and they’d

Welcome back to Carolyn of The Pleasantest Thing! Carolyn recently guest posted an awesome Alphabet Ball Learning Activity. Today she’s sharing a fun fort activity to have the kids make!

Does this look familiar to you? A tub of blocks, dumped out all over the floor?
This constantly happens in our house. Any tub of toys gets dumped out in its entirety. Blocks are very common to be strewn about the floor.

Who knew Styrofoam packaging from a ceiling fan could provide such entertainment to two little boys?
Add some tools [real tools!] to some good old Styrofoam and let the boys have a blast destructing it.
Or is that all they’re doing?

Dominoes!
I think there’s a lot of potential that could be done for activities with Dominoes, but for now, I just let the boys explore them and see what they thought of them.

In an effort to brush up on Henry’s counting skills before school starts next week, I made a quick counting maze on our driveway with sidewalk chalk.
We’ve done a counting maze before with tape, indoors.

Henry’s getting pretty excited to get back to school in a few days. We had a preschool open house the other night, so Henry got to check out his new classroom and officially meet the teacher and her aide [though he already

Sidewalk chalk has never really been a hit here before.
We don’t have the smoothest sidewalks or a very smooth driveway. So I’ve just never pushed it. I don’t even enjoy drawing with it on it, so why should they? [I’d

Seriously, the most asked for activity from Henry is a water activity.
After doing his own water experiment, painting with water on the driveway, a

Last year in three year old preschool, names were a big deal. So I can only suppose they will be again this year in four year old preschool.
Henry learned to recognize his name pretty early on. At first, he thought any word

It’s almost time for back to school and these alphabet activities will come in handy!
As a preschooler, I don’t really think a lot is expected for them to know. Some basics are good though, like colors,

Thanks to Kitchen Counter Chronicles for passing on the Olympic torch to me in the Kid Bloggers Go Olympics. I now have a chance to race to the finish line and WIN! Or not, as part of a group effort,

I found a simple way to have Henry work on writing [fine motor skills] as well as refreshing his counting skills.
I also wanted to give him confidence that he could create drawings with just simple lines.
