- various sized sticks
- sturdy rope
- duct tape
Build Your Own Nature Ring Toss Game
This DIY project is really simple! The best part is that when you’re done you can get the kids outdoors to play.
It only takes about five minutes to put together this ring toss game.
Try these genius toys for more fun, easy outdoor play!
To begin, we cut three equal lengths of rope. This is a great chance for older kids to work on measuring and comparing.
Next, we secured the ends of the rope together with duct tape to make a loop or ring.
My son chose this colorful duct tape from the store. I love how cheerful it looks!
Our rope was on the thinner side, so we doubled the loops to create a sturdier ring. If you can find a thicker rope, you could certainly use that as well.
Make these beautiful homemade suncatcher windchimes!
Since we wanted our game to be inspired by nature, we chose a few sticks from around the yard and set them upright on the lawn.
Challenge Your Child to Toss the Rings
We took turns tossing the rings, trying different distances, and seeing who could have the silliest tossing style.
We found out that we are definitely not expert ring tossers! In fact, we missed more than we hit the mark.
But we still had fun getting outdoors for gross motor fun and exercise.
We challenged ourselves to get creative with our tosses and targets. My son even tried tossing the rings on a few low hanging tree branches!
This was the perfect simple activity to get us outdoors and into the sunshine!
Go on an outdoor scavenger hunt to keep your kids active outside!
We loved playing with our DIY ring toss game. And getting out in the backyard was fun, too!

Thanks, this is a great activity! I am guessing making the rings will be as much fun as the actual game!
