I rarely make time for myself.
I take that back, I rarely make time for myself to just relax.
I do have time to myself, my husband works nights, so after the kids go to bed, its me time. And I thoroughly enjoy it. I spend it writing posts for here, which I thoroughly enjoy. But blogging is also a job for me. It may be my dream job, but its still a job and is a lot of work to keep up.
I don’t have another outlet for myself right now. I used to run… back in the day… but I don’t anymore and its something on my list that I want to get back into.
I rarely read for myself either… but this summer we’re trying quiet reading as a family and I’ve really enjoyed the time with a book that interests myself, and not just my kids.
As I started getting into my book, I started taking a half an hour at the end of the day away from writing and put it into reading. Its been a perfect way for me to unwind at the end of the day with a snack (why do I always get the munchies right before bed?). I feel refreshed and much more focused when I make time to do this.
Have you ever just stopped and realized that you don’t spend any time for just yourself?
Just 10 minutes a day to revive yourself? (taking a shower doesn’t count, though most days it seems that’s all I have.)
My husband and I were chatting not too long ago about what other couples do once the kids are in bed (think G rated here girls…), along the same lines as this ‘me time’. We laughed as we were munching down cookies and popcorn while having a drink together. Do you sit down and have the snacks that you normally don’t let the kids have too?
What do you do when you have a 10 minute break to yourself?
Please take note that I’m putting it in writing here that I take roughly a half an hour at the end of the day to myself. I’m keeping that time to myself. To relax. And not work.
I challenge you to do the same. Put it in writing. On a post-it if you have to.
