Over the years, we have shared lots and lots of Christmas crafts and activities here at Hands On As We Grow, and even quite a few Hanukkah ideas this time of year.
But December is also my birthday month! I turned the big 4-0 this past weekend!
Since that’s a big number, I want to celebrate with you!
I want to share something a little different this year with you, to show you my gratitude to you.. we are doing 5 days of giveaways this week to celebrate!
Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for reading Hands On As We Grow and supporting our contributors by sharing their activities, doing the activities and having fun with your kids while they’re young and not quite ready for school yet.
We wouldn’t be able to provide the activities we do if it wasn’t for readers like you.
Let’s CELEBRATE!

It’s my Birthday! 5 days of Giveaways
Starting today through this Friday December 10th, 2021, we will open up a new giveaway to the end of this post each day.
You will have the chance to win some of our favorite products and supplies for doing activities with toddlers and preschoolers each day this week, along with one of our eBooks you can find in our shop.
I am beyond excited for you, and I hope you will be too!
Each day this week, I’ll update this post with the day’s giveaway.
If you’re on our newsletter list, you’ll also receive an email with details on how to enter. I do have to make these giveaways for US residents only… which isn’t ideal, but I gotta follow the rules.
The day following the giveaway, I will add the winner to the previous day’s giveaway in this post, and I’ll share a list of all the winners at the end of the week in an email to our newsletter subscribers (be sure to get on the list here).
Day 1 Birthday Giveaway: Messy Play & Keeping it Clean
Day 1’s giveaway prize makes me extremely happy because I know so many moms struggle with the mess of activities and messy play!
Whether you’re getting creative with an art project or diving in with sensory play, the truth is, activities can get a little messy, and we want to encourage you to embrace that!
Remember: The mess can be cleaned up, the memories are forever. And if it stains, it’s like a permanent memory of the time.
We are giving away a ton of fun to get you ready for the messy play!
Below is the $56 prize package that’s up for grabs, and 3 winners will win this entire package! (I’ve included affiliate links below so you can check out the prizes and support Hands On As We Grow in the process)
- Our favorite Crayola Washable Paint
- a Drop Cloth to contain the mess and make for easy cleanup
- Shaving Cream, because it’s a staple in messy play
- The Hands On As We Grow PLAY eBook that is tons of fun that’s perfect for 2 year olds

5 Days of Giveaways: Day 1
Day 2 Birthday Giveaway: My Favorites
Day 2 giveaway prize package is obviously my favorite, since it’s a package of my favorite activity things!
If you don’t already know, I am a huge fan of gross motor activities. I believe kids need to move in order to sit still. And learning on the move is all the more better.
Remember: Gross motor skills, building those big muscles are necessary in little kids to then be able to build their littlest muscles that are used in fine motor skills (and we use those to do things such as write and hold a pencil).
We are giving away a prize package of my favorite activity supplies!
You’ll find that we do a lot of tape activities here on Hands On As We Grow, and I like to use string in some of our big movement activities. I also absolutely love butcher paper for learning! It’s like taking a worksheet and blowing it up big to get their whole bodies involved… none of that sitting at a desk.
Below is the $55 prize package that’s up for grabs, and 3 winners will win this entire package! (I’ve included affiliate links below so you can check out the prizes and support Hands On As We Grow in the process)
- String or yarn is a fun way to add movement! And it can be crafty too.
- Frog tape has become my go-to painter’s tape choice
- Butcher Paper can get a little expensive for a supply, but it lasts a LONG time!
- The Hands On As We Grow MOVE eBook that is packed with movement activities for 2-5 year olds
You can enter to win with the giveaway tool below. Good luck!
What are your absolute favorite type of activities that you do with your kids?
Is it movement, crafts, art projects, sensory… etc? Share in the comments.
5 Days of Giveaways: Day 2
Day 3 Birthday Giveaway: Fine Motor Fun
Our Day 3 giveaway prize is all about fine motor! The supplies that encourage your child to pinch, thread, and push!
Fine motor skills are extremely important to work on with young kids (and don’t stop once they head off to school, they need to keep those little muscles strong to improve their writing).
These fine motor supplies we chose are great for kids to strengthen fine motor skills. You can find a whole list of materials we suggest trying, as well as activities to do with them.
We are giving away a ton of fun to 3 lucky winners today to improve those fine motor skills.
Below is the $54 prize package that’s up for grabs, and 3 winners will win this entire package! (I’ve included affiliate links below so you can check out the prizes and support Hands On As We Grow in the process)
- Pom Poms always work on fine motor skills, whether you’re getting crafty or using them for a fun activity
- Good ol’ kitchen tongs are great for hand eye coordination
- A set of Colorful Buttons are great for sorting, pinching and threading!
- The Hands On As We Grow ENGAGE eBook that is tons of fun that’s perfect for 3-5 year olds

I have always felt that hands on activities help most children understand what you are trying to teach them. I have an active four-year-old grandson that will sit for quite a bit of time doing an activity versus me trying to teach him How to do the same thing from reading a book. I believe doing a hands-on activity he remembers much more of what I am trying to teach him.

It is so wonderful to see previously hesitant kids dive face first into shaving cream or touch glue without having to wipe it on their clothes. Win!

My absolute favorite thing to do with my students is a hard question! It’s a tie between reading them a book (which THEY love and allows me to incorporate so many activities around it) or playing with building blocks. It’s a tie! My class could literally stay for an hour on either activity because we all love both activities. I love seeing the children mimic me in reading to one another, making faces and funny voices! But when they build their little personalities come out and watching them create, especially with one another, makes my emotional heart FLY! I cant choose!

I have a love/hate relationship with messy play! Love because my 21-month-old son lights up when he can cut loose and play by his own rules, but hate because it usually only lasts about 2 minutes before it’s on his clothes, in his hair, covering the chair or scattered all over the floor. I still bust out the art supplies or sensory bin but usually have to take a deep breath before we begin to prepare myself for the aftermath.

I hate the clean-up, but love the fun my kids have. Making them happy is what I live for. You said it best. Cleaning the mess can be a handful in itself , but the memories made together are worth it. So we make dough (even though I know it will always turn into a flour fight), and we make slime, and we cook messy foods together, and we even put the little one in an empty pool with all kinds of baby food to paint her little heart out. I tell my older kids to keep the change. That means everything I do as a parent is for their benefit only. I don’t expect anything in return. I hate the clean-up, but my kids can always keep the change.
