One on One Time #EveryKidEveryDay

New Years
All Ages20 Comments

January is the time for New Year’s resolutions. What’s yours?

This year I am making it a goal of mine to spend focused time with each of my kids. At least 10 minutes a day, every day, with every kid.

Not too tough, right? It shouldn’t be. Just gotta turn off all the tech and don’t run to do the dishes whenever I get a chance. Its kid time. And kid time only.

Much like the 30 Day to Hands on Play Challenge that The Imagination Tree and I did. But focusing in on each child during the day is my primary goal. I want each one of them to feel special every day and to not feel left out.

One on one time with every kid #EveryKidEveryDay

To kick off the year to ‘get it right’ I’m joining a bunch of moms in doing a challenge for the first 30 days of the year. Whatever our goal is for the year, we’re challenging ourselves to do it, and publicly, so you’re holding us all accountable.

The challenge will be held on my various social media platforms, mostly Facebook and Instagram, so be sure to join me there, and maybe G+ from time to time.

You can follow the hashtag #EveryKidEveryDay to see how I’m doing on my challenge. Please feel free to encourage me and give me ideas for one on one time! If you feel like you could do the same challenge with your kids, I encourage you to use the hashtag too!

Creative with Kids has some great ideas for spending 10 minutes with each kid, and connecting with them, that I’m sure I’ll be pulling from, and I encourage you to do the same!

I mentioned that I’m doing this with other moms as well. You can follow all of our challenges with the hashtag #30DayMom

I wish I was able to follow all 12 of of you and keep right up — with a new baby coming any day now, it’s not possible – but yours is one I can and WILL follow. I remember reading about this in a parenting book recently and starting and stopping it. Not sure why it’s so hard! Yesterday after your encouragement I put it on our job chart. Now it’s right there as part of our to do list, and I’m sure my kids won’t let me forget it. Thanks for a fabulous challenge!

Excellent! I’m so glad its been ‘written’ — that alone seems to help a ton. And telling others (like I do on the blog) helps me feel like I have people watching and I ‘have’ to do it — for some reason it really is hard.

This is a lovely idea! I use a habit list on my phone to remind me to do all sorts of other things throughout the day, I think I’ll be adding this one too. I also do the 1 second a day video project so I might combine the two :) Thanks.
