A project like this that I can do while watching movies next to the Christmas tree, and that will actually have meaning as a gift, is just the dose of spirit I need.

I just love this idea! I have not been in the holiday spirit this year, not because I don’t love this time of year, but because I’m just not up for the pressures and buying that comes along with it. A project like this that I can do while watching movies next to the Christmas tree, and that will actually have meaning as a gift, is just the dose of spirit I need.

My mom and my sister and I all made ornaments together one year when I was growing up. I still remember it and it was really fun! We did styrofoam balls with sequins and pins. Lots of work but shiny!

An ornament that I did for my twins last year (that was left by the tooth fairy) was a tiny globe with their first tooth they lost in it. I also put a slip of paper that said the date the lost the tooth. The tooth fairy left those and a new toothbrush for them on Christmas morning. They thought it was the coolest!

Wow, what an impressive collection of creative and fun ornaments. Over the weekend my children created some precious baubles which contain festive drawings – they make for such beautiful keepsakes.
Lizzie Saito says
The salt dough hand print looks lovely! I might want to have my kids do this. I am looking at adding personal touches to my tree, so through the years my ornaments would also represent my family’s history and maybe in time, our legacy. I already have antique glass ornaments from Russia and Murano, and I am thinking adding small picture frames, personalized glass bauble, and hand prints will make my tree more meaningful.
Kathln says
These activities reminds me of my childhood. Me and my Mom spent our bonding moments doing art crafts. We never spent a cent for our Christmas tree ornaments. This is a good activities for families.
Jamie Reimer says
This just made my morning. I agree whole-heartedly. Its what I remember doing with my mom as well. And Christmas ornaments you get to see year after year. So special.
shauna says
When I was a kid, my parents split up and my mom took all the Christmas ornaments, leaving my dad with nothing but the lights. So when my brothers and I went over for Christmas, Dad had gotten a tree. We put it up and he went to go get the ornaments and found nothing but the lights. My brothers and I sat ourselves down and made a ton of ornaments and hung em up. Everything on the tree was homemade. We were so proud of ourselves.
Gracie says

Great choices – we are making boxes of ornaments for the grandparents this year (because we're arty, not because money is tight-ahem) – lots of great inspiration here!
MaryAnn says
Amazing and fun and so many are really creative from the kids' own styles. I have to throw in one more idea that was a big hit and my grown girls still love to see: MINI PAINTINGS! We bought tiny frames and they made tiny paintings and drawings. They even glued tiny paints to the BACKS of the frames. Yes, glitter is part of it all. So cute on a wreath or on the tree. they like for me to just set them up on a shelf so they are easy to see. Precious masterpieces. I'll get a picture for you before long, I HOPE! Have to bring out the boxes first…. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas. Thank you for all you do to brighten our lives.
