This is a quick and fun activity for toddlers to keep busy with.
I set this up for Louis to play for a bit before it was time to get Henry from school.
I tied twine between two objects in the house. I used a doorknob (and propped the door to stay in place) and the leg of our dining room table.
Much like a small clothesline for toddlers.
Before tying it on, I slipped a small bucket onto the rope and filled it with clothespins.
Later, during Louis’ play, I added small pieces of ribbons as well.
As a side note, what in the world is the proper way to show possession to the name Louis? Is it Louis’s or Louis’ — anyway… back to the clothesline activity.
Louis mostly just loved sliding the bucket from one end of the twine to the other. Back and forth.
He dumped out the clothespins and put them back into the bucket to take it to the other end.
When I added the ribbons, he tried clipping them onto the rope, but couldn’t quite get the hang of it.
His fine motor skills just aren’t quite there yet. His Dad and I clipped more ribbons on for him to remove so he could get the hang of it.
As he slid the bucket back and forth and ran into a clothespin, he’d try to take it off.
An easy activity to keep him occupied for a few minutes.
