Get popping with a super fun bubble wrap runway! This indoor gross motor activity is simple to set up and easy to do over and over.
Simple play at its best! We’ve been getting back to the basics and redoing old activities we’ve done several times.
Want to see the simplest activities we’ve ever done?
One of our family favorites is a super simple bubble wrap runway. Everyone loves to play with bubble wrap!
Make a Bubble Wrap Runway for Kids of All Ages
To make your own bubble wrap runway, you’ll need:
- bubble wrap
- painters tape
I buy most of my stuff online. I’m a huge Amazon.com Prime fan (that’s an affiliate link if you’re interested in getting it, it doesn’t cost you any more).
Our deliveries used to come with lots of bubble wrap, which made this activity basically free.
I don’t get bubble wrap in our packaging as often anymore. Which is a good thing, I suppose.
We do get it every once in a while though and when we do, its a special treat. I always tuck mine away in a drawer or cupboard until we have a rainy day like we just did.
Next time you need a quick and fun activity, tape some of your bubble wrap stash onto the floor for a fun runway!
The boys went crazy!
I had enough bubble wrap to make two runways, so I challenged the boys.
Who can pop all their bubble wrap first?
At first they went crazy hopping, jumping, and running across their runway as fast as they could.
And it got a little silly too. Louis found it fun to run on both runways at the same time. Back and forth!

And George got silly taking giant leaps as he ran across the bubble wrap.
It was all in good fun, and they were behaving rather well. They weren’t actually getting too out of control.
Eventually, they began to slow down. Probably because most of the bubbles were popped.
They began to crawl on it, popping the bubbles with their hands.
I was shocked that no trucks came into the action this time (see our fun below from a couple years ago).
Extend Your Bubble Wrap Runway with Trucks and Tractors!
The kids drove their vehicles on it, popping the bubbles as they went.
Or just used their fingers, because that’s always fun too!
And of course, run, run run! Run along it, popping all the bubbles under your feet.
What a fun sensory experience!
Just don’t go throwing bubble wrap away next time you get it. Bring it out and have a little fun!
What do you do with your bubble wrap? We’d love to see your creative ideas!

Great idea to tape the bubble wrap down for this activity! I’m technically a grown-up, but I still think this activity is fun – and so do my kids!
