Dust mopping the wood floors has become a weekly necessity and this is Henry’s favorite! I shortened a Swiffer mop by taking out a couple of the sections, so now its just his height.
When doing laundry, Henry always jumps at the chance to help.
He brings all the hampers to the laundry room for me. And then returns them to their place.
He does try to help with rotating the laundry, but usually gets stuck when pulling stuff out of the washer.
Henry also helps clean up after most of the activities and crafts that we do.
Which often leads to vacuuming.
Which he loves.
Another favorite has to be cleaning anything in the sink. He could (and does at times) spend hours on his ‘big stool’ (my step stool) cleaning.
Henry often helps me withunloading the dishwasher too.
He puts away all the silverware (after I’ve removed all sharp objects). He usually takes care of putting his own dishes away too.
Baking and cooking are also favorites around here.
I think any chance for Henry to use the big stool, he takes.
Almost once a day, Henry helps me get a meal on the table. And many times he completely sets the table for me.
I’ve been working on trying to get him to take his dirty dishes to the kitchen after a meal. That one seems to be taking awhile to catch on.
Henry often helps Dad, too, while working on the house, outside or down at the bakery.
I’ve debated about starting a chore chart, but right now Henry still enjoys his ‘chores’ and its fun to him.
I don’t want them to become a chore just yet.

Great ideas! My toddler love to scrape her plate into the bin after dinner, it’s almost more exciting then dinner and we have to be really sure she’s actually finished first… Unfortunately she runs from the vacuum too and any loud vibrating noise, we bought her a toy elephant that uses a vacuum mechanism to help her get to the noise and it helped a little.

I love the swiffer idea too. Unfortunately my girls run in the opposite direction when I vacuum as they hate the noise. They are good are cleaning windows and cupboard doors. I just give them a spray bottle with vinegar and water in it and some paper towel and off they go!

I love how you shortened the swiffer for him, that was a great idea!
You little guy is such a big help, and I love all of the pictures you posted. He is too cute!

I follow you through email. This is great. I've been thinking about what my toddlers can do to help out more… I've been really trying to teach my 3 year old to pick up one set of toys before getting another out… It's going to take a while. They both love to vacuum and swifter the floor. I should let them do it more often. LOL.

Well mine are teens so they don't like chores. My daughter though does hers faithfully every day without being told. Well most of the time. My son will however lolly gag about and think if he just sits and sits he won't have to do it. I'm a very determined parent and you will do it until it's done and it's done properly…even if that means you spend the next day doing it.
