Need fun ways to learn some colors with the kids?
We’ve done a few color learning activities…
A colorful rainbow hunt for toys
Sorting crayons by color

Henry and I were having some great quality, quiet time together while George was taking an early nap. We were playing with his Imaginets, matching patterns and shapes. When he started to get bored with that, I mentioned doing some patterning

What to do with crayons? How about 35 kids activities for them, other than coloring!
Everyone has at least one pack of crayons, right?
We seem to have them all over.
What to do with crayons, besides color?

Go on a scavenger hunt around the house for what’s already all over. The toys! Find them in every color of the rainbow!
We’re going on a toy hunt!
A hunt for toys in the colors of the rainbow.

I love to find fun ways to teach new concepts to the boys.Henry’s been really into counting lately, so we’ve been doing a lot of things with numbers. [He's even adding and subtracting, and even sometimes dividing without even knowing it!]Here’s 4

The kids and I were out shopping, actually doing it to waste time to pick up Dad.
And I came across these crayon shaped paint sample cards.
I had no plan for them, but I’ve been seeing a million ideas for sample cards lately,

I found this colorful garland of shapes on Pinterest.
So colorful and bright, I thought this could be turned into a kid project!
Visit Weekday Carnival to buy this gorgeous geometric garland!

Toddler play with pom poms!
Grabbing, pinching and poking at these little items are great for fine motor development!
Henry never got into the little things, he was always too busy and on the move. George gets into it a little bit

Color snow in the yard as a fun, art activity in the winter!
We were graced with a warm day [32 degrees] with a light dusting of snow [a couple inches] just before Christmas. My Christmas wish came true! We barely had a white

We turned The Imagination Tree’s bug slime spaghetti [eww!] into a sensory activity especially for Halloween!
I simply cooked up a package of spaghetti noodles, drained them and rinsed it with cold water to cool it down quickly.

I feel like a successful hands on mom when my preschooler runs to me with bubble wrap in his hand and says, “We have to save this and paint with it later!”

Long ago, when there wasn’t any reason to Beat the Heat.
My mom had a bucket full of old crayons with lots of bits and pieces.
So, Henry, Grandma and I made some upcycled crayons.

It has been a while since I made a scavenger hunt for Henry.
This time I wanted Henry to be more self-sufficient at it.
So I made a scavenger hunt guide with pictures [as well as the word].

Beating the Heat has been fun last week.
Even though it was miserably hot, we used lots of ice to keep us cool.
So far, George has played with ice cubes [a simple sensory activity for babies]

Henry has learned his colors long ago.
He has also learned the different shades of green, blue, pink, purple and other colors.
We’re just learning what happens when you mix two colors together.
[I do think he has what blue and yellow make together figured out though!]

Yesterday’s basket of fabric scraps that George explored,
turned into some exploring from Henry, as well.
The entire basket, of course, was dumped onto the floor immediately.
Henry began sorting the fabric scraps by color.
