Does this look familiar to you? A tub of blocks, dumped out all over the floor?
This constantly happens in our house. Any tub of toys gets dumped out in its entirety. Blocks are very common to be strewn about the floor.

Who knew Styrofoam packaging from a ceiling fan could provide such entertainment to two little boys?
Add some tools [real tools!] to some good old Styrofoam and let the boys have a blast destructing it.
Or is that all they’re doing?

Dominoes!
I think there’s a lot of potential that could be done for activities with Dominoes, but for now, I just let the boys explore them and see what they thought of them.
Henry immediately began to make a road with them, and George

In an effort to brush up on Henry’s counting skills before school starts next week, I made a quick counting maze on our driveway with sidewalk chalk.
We’ve done a counting maze before with tape, indoors.

Henry’s getting pretty excited to get back to school in a few days. We had a preschool open house the other night, so Henry got to check out his new classroom and officially meet the teacher and her aide [though he already

Sidewalk chalk has never really been a hit here before.
We don’t have the smoothest sidewalks or a very smooth driveway. So I’ve just never pushed it. I don’t even enjoy drawing with it on it, so why should they? [I’d

Seriously, the most asked for activity from Henry is a water activity.

I also wanted to give him confidence that he could create drawings with just simple lines.

Shape sorting. A good review for Henry before school starts!
This was one of those non-planned activities though. The boys had been playing with the ABC and

There’s something so prestigious about art on a piece of canvas.
I think it really makes the kids think they’re making something really special. Last year they made a piece of art on canvas with the frozen paints

Bowling is fun for all ages! Even the littlest kids can get a kick out of it just by watching you knock down the pins!
Indoor bowling can be done on a whim so easily! Just take a look around your house for

A geoboard has been on my list of things to make for the kids for a long, long time. They’ve always seemed like such a great means to work on fine motor skills but yet letting the kids

Fly a kite today!
Run in the backyard or take it to the park. All you need it some string, a plastic grocery bag [one preferably without holes, which may or may not be hard to find], and a rubberband for extra assurance that

The American Flag is awesome for learning!
There’s patterning, there’s counting to be had, working on fine motor skills, and I even thought measuring could be mixed into this activity,

Have you used starch in your crafts with the kids?
After this flower craft, I’m so excited to find new ways to use it.
I got inspired to make these starched coffee filter flowers from Ms. Motta’s Mixed Media’s Chulily-inspired artwork.
