An Easter craft that toddlers can do! Make a simple tissue paper cross to put in your window for Easter!
It just doesn’t seem like it’s Easter yet for some reason. I just haven’t gotten in that complete “Spring” mode, besides playing outside every day possible!
Seriously, I just (as in last weekend) put the snowmen away in my house.
I just haven’t gotten my mind wrapped around this awesome weather. Or maybe its just that I’m too lazy, or too busy playing outside with the boys.
Tissue Paper Cross Easter Craft for Kids to Make
Anyhow. We did attempt to decorate a little to get our minds in the mood for the upcoming holiday, Easter!
And this time, George got to take part in this little craft that’s great for toddlers.
We made an Easter tissue paper cross on contact paper. I borrowed this idea from the Shamrocks and Mother’s Day craft we did last year.
This Easter craft is super simple to do! My kids loved to touch the stickiness of the contact paper.
To make your own tissue paper cross Easter craft, you’ll need:
- contact paper
- tissue paper
- permanent marker
- scissors
- tape
I taped up squares of contact paper to the window, with the sticky side towards us of course. You could also set out your craft supplies on a table.
Having the contact paper taped up on the window added an extra element of fun to
I also laid out a few scraps of tissue paper and scrapbook paper scraps.
Sticky Contact Paper + Tissue Paper Cross
George did love the stickiness. But, honestly, after he had stuck a few pieces of tissue paper on, he liked ripping them off again more than sticking them on.
Every piece of tissue paper that wasn’t pressed down completely, he pulled right off again. That was his great fun!
So I left him alone with it, not pushing him into doing it exactly as I had originally planned.
I peeked back to see what he was working on…
He had the back of the contact paper stuck up to the window. Such a cutie!
And he also tried taking it all down. So I ended up taping around every side of the contact paper, instead of just top and bottom.
Henry came home and got right in on the action, curious what it was all about.
His goal was to fill the entire sheet up completely with the papers. Henry was definitely on a mission!
It was really nice to see the boys working side by side together. George thought the craft was much more interesting once Henry had an interest in it… funny how that goes, isn’t it?
Here’s a look from the outside while the boys did their work, an almost complete collage.
Turn the Collage into an Easter Cross
When they were happy with their tissue paper collage, I covered it with another piece of contact paper. I flattened everything out, smoothing out any air bubbles.
I drew a quick sketch of a cross on the contact paper collage and cut it out.
I had strict instructions from Henry to not cut the top wavy orange line at all. So my cross shrank a little.
I also cut out a few triangles from the extra collage to add some pizzazz to the Easter cross. They made a nice little sunburst effect.
Henry helped me tape them up onto the window then and counted each of the triangles. Ten of them, not the eight that I thought I had cut out.
I wish the tape didn’t show as much as it does. Although it doesn’t quite show this badly in person. From further away it isn’t as noticeable.
Maybe if I used double sided tape instead of regular clear tape, it might look better next time.
We loved making this Easter craft that reminds us of the reason for the season.
You can literally cut out any shape you’d like for whatever holiday or season! Tissue paper crafts like this

I was just thinking I wanted to make a cross project to go with one of our books this morning! Perfect! Love the team work by the way — so sweet!

Isn’t it great how the teamwork came out of it? I didn’t expect it. I thought this would be a project just for George. But even better that both made it happen.
