A maze and a maze.
A month or so ago, we headed to our local maize maze and tackled it with the whole family.
Since then I’ve been wanting to try a maze at home with Henry as well.
Hands on kids activities for hands on moms.

With the weather getting cooler each day, I’ve found that we’re not getting outside nearly as much as we were this summer.
The weather is still plenty nice to play all day outside, just with a jacket on instead.

During naptime, I setup this simple string scavenger hunt.
I strung yarn around the room [a couple rooms actually].
Looping it through furniture and toys, creating a tangled mess.
[I found this string scavenger hunt idea for outside awhile back from Ready. Set.
I have lately felt the itch to get moving. To get Henry and George moving, more specifically.

A backyard balance beam is super simple!
Grab some scrap wood from the garage or shop and lay out in the lawn.
[If you have clean boards, bring it inside for an indoor walk the plank activity, an idea from No Time For

It has been a while since I made a scavenger hunt for Henry.
This time I wanted Henry to be more self-sufficient at it.
So I made a scavenger hunt guide with pictures [as well as the word].

International Mud Day is tomorrow, Wednesday, June 29th!
To celebrate, here’s 30 dirty activities for kids, dirt construction to art with dirt, exploring teaching opportunities as well as the obvious mud and dirt sensory activities.

Yesterday’s basket of fabric scraps that George explored,
turned into some exploring from Henry, as well.
The entire basket, of course, was dumped onto the floor immediately.
Henry began sorting the fabric scraps by color.

Using an ABC Mat and ABC Blocks a learning activity is formed!
Letting Henry lead the way,
we put the ABC mat together in order of the ABC’s and 123′s.
He used his hammer to pound in each of the letters to their corresponding blocks.

Henry has always been a child with lots and lots of energy.
He took his first steps at 8.5 months.
He always runs instead of walks.
He spins instead of stands.
He climbs.
Coloring bores him.
Crafts spend too much time sitting.
Henry simply likes to move.

A few of the family kids [all boys!] got together on Easter
and did a quick egg hunt in the back yards.
It was great to get outside.
I have to ‘fess up and say I didn’t make the Outdoors in April challenges.
This last week

Fan + Balloon + a Preschooler = repeated fun!
All I got to show is this short 12 second video
of Henry dumping his balloon from his bucket.
He dumps it in front of the fan in our upstairs hallway.
The balloon blows down the hallway.

Every child I know has a fascination with balloons.
At every birthday party, every kid wants to take one home.
They are usually the highlight of the party… [unless you have one of these at your party.]

What can you do with a couple of balloons?[Ideas are welcome!]I blew up a couple balloons and the first thing we did was:play Balloon Badminton!
I put together two rackets with paper plates and Henry’s drumsticks. I just scotch taped them on. [We did

I order a lot of my baby supplies (formula, baby food, diapers) online.
My latest shipment came with a ridiculous amount of packaging.
I ordered a stovetop’s worth – it came in 3 gigantic boxes (above) and had about 1

Usually I try to post something educational on Fridays.
Well, I haven’t been much of a teacher this week because we did nothing that was any type of ‘formal’ education.I have been meaning to show you what other fun
