Literacy & ABCsAll Ages3 Comments
Learning the ABCs are such a gigantic step for a preschooler!
At least it was for me when Henry first recognized the letter M. After that, they fell into place really quickly!
First there’s upper case letters, then lower case letters…. then its onto sounds (or sometimes sounds come before recognizing the letters). And then of course putting them all together to spell words. Oh, the wonder of it all! How do they figure it all out?
Well, there’s some fun activities for that, of course!
Above, clockwise from top-left:
- Gratefully Growing in Grace is very hands on with this approach to spelling sight words! Unscramble the letters!
- Praises of a Wife and Mommy reuses baby jar lids as letters to match to flashcards! The possibilities are endless with these!
- Crafty Mom Share creates hopscotch with letters. Random letters too! Whatever her child picked, she wrote! Awesome open ended activity with child input. Letter recognition as well.
- Dirt and Boogers has lots and lots of Letter Games for Tots!
