Henry headed off to his first day of 4 year old preschool on Monday. New building. New teacher. New experience!
Henry was excited for school to start [thanks to our back-to-school countdown with books!] and to keep up the excitement, we planned a special picnic with the whole family for after school [he goes just for the morning, five days a week].
While Henry was at school, George and I packed for the special picnic. The Glad® Food Storage containers came in handy for packing it up!
Nothing out of the ordinary here for lunch, just peanut butter and jelly with some chips and crackers.
We really need to crank up the notch with our after school lunches! I’m trying to inspire myself with this amazing selection of school lunch ideas [now its going to be tough to choose which one to try first!]:
- Kids don’t like sandwiches? Childhood 101 has some alternative lunch box ideas!
- Life at the Zoo has over 30 lunch box recipes to include [including some treats!].
- A simple lunch printable to stick to your fridge! Word Playhouse has a list to print out so you’ll have ideas right in your kitchen.
- The sample school lunches shown at 100 Days of Real Food look so yummy! Can’t wait to start trying these!
When we picked Henry up from his first day of school, we headed to the playground for the kids to run and play and eat a picnic lunch.
Picnics are always so special! The kids love them every time. Even if it’s in our own backyard or on our front porch. But to actually go somewhere and make it a real treat, that’s something the kids get really excited about! They get their own containers of food and it makes them feel special for that meal.
